About

I am humbled to be a servant and friend of Jesus. I am blessed with a wonderful and beautiful wife and 3 special and gracious daughters. I have truly enjoyed teaching AP US History and other social studies classes at Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights since 2000. And the Lord has graciously allowed me to be an adjunct professor in Biola University’s BOLD degree-completion program, where I teach classes in Biblical Worldview. I graduated from Los Altos High School, Pepperdine Univeristy, and Talbot School of Theology at Biola. I grew up and continue to live and work in Hacienda Heights, California.

    Hello,
I found your site looking for a place to go for NDP and unfortunately, I will not be able to attend (at that early hour my kids will be ready for school themselves)but I will pray for you and your school. I sense you as a “one man band” at your school and just wanted to let you know that the Perez family will be praying for you. I wish you were at Rowland. I know my kids would love your enthusiam. They themselves also feel like they are the “only ones” really serious about God. My oldest son will be graduating from Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta soon and he has a heart for his school and community too. You remind me of him. Well, again we’ll be praying for you and your family. They’re adorable!

I read your article in a 2009 “Teachers of Vision” magazine and was very inspired… you are cool, smart, you care about reaching kids, and you are not “religious” but dedicated to living the truth in an honest way. I also teach History (middle school level) and my husband and I attended Vineyard in Fort Collins for about 15 years before moving to a smaller church just last year…

My daughter and I just read your “Experience with God” link, and we decided that we are definitely more impacted by Christians who have faced hardship and could discuss how they wrestled through it with God, as opposed to those who “have it all together”. Thanks for your transparency, and for sharing your ability to bring up tenets of truth in your History classes, followed by intelligent & relevant discussion with your students. Wow. What a gift. I’m asking God to grow me in that, so if you have any further tips, blog away…

    • Wow Lisa, thank you so much! This is so encouraging! May God bless you as you serve as a missionary to our schools and your own children. Thanks for taking the time to post. I needed that.
